Breaking: Former 1st round pick earns a try-out contract

The Colorado Avalanche have announced that they’ve invited former Ottawa Senators 1st round pick Jared Cowen to training camp on a professional try-out (PTO). 

The 26-year-old defenseman last played in the NHL during the 2015-16 season and spent all of last season on the shelf rehabbing a chronic hip injury. Here’s hoping he can finally fulfill on some of the potential that enticed the Sens to select him 9th overall in the  2009 NHL Entry Draft.
