It sounds like this could be a serious injury, but given the current state of the Colorado Avalanche one has to wonder how much it will really impact them, at least in the short term.

Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar addressed the assembled media following the Avalanche's practice on Monday and announced that defenseman Nikita Zadorov had suffered an injury in preactice.

It's unclear how Zadarov, the Avalanche's first round pick in 2013, was injured but we do know that he suffered the injury to one of his legs, and it's serious enough that he is meeting with medical staff in order to be properly evaluated.

While the Avalanche have certainly been terrible this season Zadarov has been a big part of their blue line, appearing in 56 games for the Avs this season, and given the Avalanche's lack of defensive depth he will not be easily replaced.
