Things seemed to be deteriorating between Sam Bennett and the Calgary Flames, but despite all kinds of crazy rumors and even what many considered to be a threat to leave for Europe, they got the deal done.

According to a break news report from Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman, the Calgary Flames and general manager Brad Treliving have signed Bennett to a two-year deal.

The former fourth overall pick in the 2014 National Hockey League Entry Draft will earn an average annual value of $1.95 million as per Friedman's report, a very reasonable deal for a young center who has average 31 points over the last two seasons.

Brad Treliving had recently made comments, following the rumors that Bennett was contemplating Europe, comments that suggested he wasn't worried about the threat and was focused on getting the deal done.

He just put his money where his mouth is.
