Breaking: Former first round pick suffers season ending injury at practice today!

Earlier today we reported that Colorado Avalanche defenseman Nikita Zadorov had been injured in practice, and while we knew based on the tone of head coach Jared Bednar that it didn't sound good, no one suspected an injury this severe.

After meeting with doctors and being evaluated today, the Avalanche have now officially ruled out Zadorov for the remainder of the season, adding yet one more huge bump in the road in what has already been a catastrophic season for the organization.

While it's unlikely to impact the Avalanche's stronghold as the last placed team in the NHL, losing a defenseman who has appeared in 56 games for you thus far when you're already lacking in defensive depth remains a major headache.
