There are huge rumors coming out regarding a former first round pick, rumors some appear to have interpreted as naked threats.

Today TSN insider Darren Dreger reported that there remained a "sizable gap" in contract negotiations between Sam Bennett and the Calgary Flames, and while that wasn't necessarily a huge surprise, Dreger also reported that this could lead to Bennett leaving for Europe until a deal is worked out between the two sides.

Needless to say this reveal caught a great many people off guard and comes as a massive surprise, one that seemingly indicates the negotiations have gone quite poorly between the two sides, and now the Flames have responded.

General manager Brad Treliving made public comments following the reporter from Dreger, and it's clear from his comments that he believes this is a negotation tactic, and a threat, from his young forward.

“We’re not really focused on threats" said Treliving.

This battle sounds like it's far from over, and furthermore sounds like it could get nasty.
