Life is short, but for some it ends tragically way too soon. There is never a good moment to pass away and it will always be sad to lose a member of the hockey community, but circumstances like this one are hard to swallow.

A few hours ago, the news of the passing of former OHL goalie John Chartrand have been released.

Chartrand wasn't on pace to reach the NHL, but he played 61 games in the OHL, notably with the IceDogs. The 24 years old accidently rear ended a car in a traffic jam and fought for his life in the Greater Toronto Area. He sadly passed away in the hospital hours later.

His former team extended their condolences quickly.

News like this one saddens everyone equally and we offer our deepest sympathy to his family and friends. 24 years old is way too early to leave.

Rest in peace, young sir.
