More bad news for Colorado

The Colorado Avalanche were an unmitigated disaster last season, so much so that they largely became the punchline of jokes around the league, and things seem to be getting worse.

While we have yet to hear any kind of official announcement from the Avalanche organization, Colorado Avalanche insider Adrian Dater is now reporting that former National Hockey League star Adam Foote has walked out on the organization.

TSN insider Darren Dreger had previously reported that he had been told Foote was leaving the organization, but Dater now says he has received official confirmation from a team source.

This is what Dreger had to say on the subject as per Chris Nichols of Fanrag Sports:

“I was told the other day that Adam Foote has left the organization. Adam Foote was a player development guy, but highly respected. He was a guy that the management types of the Colorado Avalanche would lean on from time to time. Now, he’s got some focus elsewhere with his son Cal drafted high by the Tampa Bay Lightning. His younger son, Nolan, he’s going to be a high pick. Both are playing for the Kelowna Rockets this year. So there might be a level of distraction.

Foote is just one of five players to have his number retired by the Avalanche, and there's no doubt that his departure will leave the organization yet another glaring hole to fill.
