The question is does he have anything left to offer?
While several National Hockey League general managers are up in arms at the settlement reached between the Los Angeles Kings and Mike Richards, Richards' himself views it as the next chapter in his career.
According to Richard's agent, he has been working hard to get himself into game shape, and is hoping to sign on as a free agent with a new team.
"Mike has worked this summer towards getting back to the NHL and now he's a free agent," said Richards' agent Pat Morris as per TSN.
"He wants to do his best to return to the Mike Richards hockey that allowed him to play on an Olympic team and allowed him to win two Stanley Cups, including one in 2014. He's got desire and want and he's had the longest period of time to train."
The question now becomes what can Richards offer an NHL franchise if anything, even if he were willing to sign for the league minimum. Making matters worse for Richards is the fact that he is still facing criminal charges for drug possession, and isn't due in court until December.
