Talk about taking one for the team.
While it was clear that Los Angeles Kings forward Dwight King was hurt after blocking a Colorado Avalanche shot in preseason hockey, most probably didn't expect him to be out this long.
Kings head coach Darryl Sutter revealed on Monday that King was forced to undergo surgery this week to repair a break in his foot, the result of the blocked shot, and now King is estimated to be out for 8-10 weeks.
As for Sutter he seems to believe the injury to King is particularly nasty, and he indicated that he believes the recovery time could extend beyond the 10 week estimate.
A tough loss to take for a preseason game, especially for a team looking to have a bounce back year.
