In minimalist fashion, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman announced the fate of Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Jason Garrison after being placed on waivers Friday at noon.
General manager George McPhee loaded up on defenseman at the expansion draft - expecting to be able to leverage them for prospects and picks to build the foundation of this franchise.
Much to his chagrin, general managers across the league, despite their need for defensemen, were simply not willing to bite on the deals McPhee was offering.
That being said, this waiver clearance may pave the way for an imminent trade. Once Calvin Pickard cleared waivers earlier this month, the Toronto Maple Leafs promptly traded for him, seeing as he wouldn't need waivers again to report to the AHL.
Stay tuned - a deal may be announced as early as today.
