The Philadelphia Flyers have lost their big, bruising, presence on the blue line.

On Thursday general manager Ron Hextall confirmed that defenseman Radko Gudas wouldbe shut down for the remainder of the National Hockey League season.

Gudas was injured when he took an extremely blatant cheap shot away from the play courtesy of New Jersey Devil Dalton Prout. Hextall did add that the situation might be different if the Flyers were battling for a playoff spot, but with the team out of contention he is playing it safe with Gudas' health.

A tough loss for the Flyers, but not one that is likely to have a lasting impact on the organization.
