Breaking: Golden Knights lose a player to injury, but it may actually help the team.

The Las Vegas Golden Knights certainly weren't hoping for one of their players to get injured, but the fact that it happened may have helped the team in the long run. 

According to a report from Sportsnet insider Chris Johnston, the Golden Knights placed 26-year-old forward Erik Haula on injured reserve on Saturday. The move however will free up a roster spot that was desperately needed by the Golden Knights.

Due to their inability to trade one of their defensemen, something Golden Knights general manager George McPhee felt he could get done before the start of the regular season, the team had Vadim Shipachyov stuck in the American Hockey League.

Shipachyov, a 30-year old forward, put up 76 points in 50 games last season in the Kontinental Hockey League, and he wasn't signed to a contract with an average annual value of $4,5 million to play in the AHL. 

As a result there were reports of Shipachyov being disgruntled with his current position, but the Haula injury has seemingly solved this issue for the Golden Knights, at least for now.
