The problems between the Las Vegas Golden Knights and talented Russian forward Vadim Shipachyov have finally come to a head.

According to a breaking news report from Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman the Las Vegas Golden Knights have granted Shipachyov permission to seek a trade anywhere in the National Hockey League.

The move likely comes after Shipachyov demanded a trade due to being relegated to just three NHL games this season after signing a two-year-contract this summer worth an average annual value of $4.5 million.

While there is no word yet or where Shipachyov will seek a potential trade, Sportsnet insider Eric Engels is reporting that the Habs may be a potential fit. According to Engels the Habs tried to sign Shipachyov two years ago but his Kontinental Hockey League contract got in the way of that deal.

The Habs need a boost to their offense and they have the cap space to fit a player like Shipachyov into their line up, the question becomes will they have an offer good enough to convince Vegas to make the deal?
