The Montreal Canadiens announced this evening that they've traded forward Torrey Mitchell to the Los Angeles Kings.

The conditional fifth round pick becomes a 4th round pick if the Kings make the playoffs this year. The 4th pick in question is actually the pick that Montreal traded to the Kings last season at the trade deadline for Dwight King.

The Kings currently sit second in their division, sporting a 12-8-2 record. As of now, they are on pace to take part in this season's playoffs.

Mitchell has been a regular healthy scratch this season. He's suited up for only 11 out of 23 games this year, with 0 points.

So long, Torrey.

Is this move the sign of things to come?
