Breaking: Habs place forward on unconditional waivers, may be the end of the road.

The Montreal Canadiens have just made a significant move and it may mark the end of one young man's National Hockey League aspirations.

According to a report from Sportsnet's National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman, the Havs have placed 22 year old forward Jeremiah Addison on waivers and it sounds an awful lot like they do not intend to keep him under contract for much longer. According to Friedman Addison has been placed on unconditional waivers and this usually indicates that a player's contract is on the verge of being terminated by the organization that he currently plays for.

Addison was only a Habs 7th round pick ( 207th overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft however in spite of going fairly late in the draft there was at one point a lot of excitement surrounding the forward prospect. Unfortunately it appears that Addison's inability to stay healthy has now completely derailed his career and I see very little chance of him once again making the climb back up to being considered a legitimate NHL prospect in the future.

As part of his three year entry level deal Addison spent three seasons with the Canadiens' American Hockey League affiliate, the first season with the St. John's IceCaps and then later with the Laval Rocket following the Canadiens decision to move their AHL team closer to home. However in spite of being on those rosters over 3 different season Addison was only able to get 1- AHL games under his belt in part due to the consistent strain of injuries that hindered his development. Earlier in the week is was revealed that Addison would be sent down to the East Coast Hockey League but it now seems that the move to the ECHL may be a permanent one for Addison given this most recent update.

Prior to playing in the AHL Addison had a strong showing in the Ontario Hockey League however injuries were once again a factor for him even at that level. In his final season in the OHL, as a member of the Windsor Spitfires, he recorded 24 goals and 19 assists for a very respectable 43 points in 51 games played.

I wish him all the best on his future endeavors.
