Habs may be a major contender.

The big story today is the decision from defenseman Will Butcher to reject the Colorado Avalanche and instead opt to wait until he is a free agent this summer, effectively allowing him to sign with any team of his choice.
While there were initially a number of reports connecting Butcher to a number of different teams, National Hockey League analyst Jimmy Murphy is now reporting that that Montreal Canadiens are serious contenders.
Murphy had originally describe the Habs as a potential wildcard in the Butcher sweepstakes, however he now says he has received information from an NHL executive that suggest they are more much than just a wildcard.
It's unclear if that means the Habs are now the favorite to sign Butcher, however it's now certain that they are the mix here.
