The Montreal Canadiens announced an injury late in the second period in a matchup against the Los Angeles Kings.

Nikita Scherbak fell awkwardly against the board in the first period and left the game for treatment. He came on the ice at the end of the period to test out his leg and subsequently returned for the 2nd period.

Unfortunately he clearly wasn't at 100%, and cannot finish the game.

The score at the time of the announcement was 3-0 for the Kings, so this was definitely unwelcome news for the Canadiens.

Scherbak was called up earlier this week in the wake of the team's 7th straight loss. The Russian forward has 8 points in 6 games in the AHL with the Laval Rocket.
