One of the National Hockey League's biggest stars may have just been knocked out of the World Cup of Hockey tournament.

According to a report from ESPN's Joe McDonald there is a possibility that the Swedish netminder will be unavailable for Tuesday's game against Finland as a result of a virus that he has contracted.

McDonald has been informed by Lundqvist that the Rangers' goalie has been fighting off the flu, which would explain his notable absence from team events, and while Lundqvist is hopeful he will be good enough to go tomorrow, it's still up in the air at this time.

There is one positive sign however, Lundqvist was on the ice at practice today indicating that he's at least partially recovered, but we likely won't have a decision on whether or not he will suit up for game action until closer to the puck drop.

Update: Darren Pang suggested on Hockey Central at Noon today that even if healthy Sweden may opt to go with Jacob Markstrom based on performance in this tournament.
