There are going to be some big changes for the Detroit Red Wings this season, and none may be a bigger challenge than the change that is coming specifically to Dylan Larkin, the Red Wings rookie sensation last season.

In a recent interview with the NHL.com's Dan Rosena recent interview with the NHL.com's Dan Rosen, Red Wings general manager Ken Holland revealed that Larkin will be changing positions this season, and while he was drafted as a center, based on his play last year alongside Zetterberg it was unclear where he would end up. Holland made it clear vthat the plan is for Larkin to become a true #1 center, and furthermore it sounds like, based on Holland's comments, that's what Larkin wants as well.

"That's our plan going into camp. He's obviously been a center his entire life. We drafted him as a center, but when you have guys like Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk down the middle, guys who are so good 200 feet, it's tougher. Dylan played with Zetterberg last season and Zetterberg took a lot of the responsibility off of Dylan to free him up to play the game. Long-term, the plan is that Dylan is going to be a center for us. Obviously when we start camp, Dylan is going to be at the World Cup. I'm not sure what the plan for him will be there. I know when Dylan went to the World Championship, he asked the U.S. team if he could play down the middle, which he did. I'm not sure what the North American team is planning for him in the World Cup. Our plan is he's going to be given every opportunity to play down the middle."

Larkin will be featured at the World Cup of Hockey prior to joining the Red Wings for the regular season, and he will undoubtedly be a player to watch this season.
