It's hard to say who's been waiting for this longer - Habs fans or David Schlemko.

The mobile defenseman was acquired from the Vegas Golden Knights for a fifth round draft pick by the Montreal Canadiens this summer, and Marc Bergevin had him pencilled in as the team's top left defenseman to start the year.

A bruised hand would keep him out for over 2 months, as it eventually required surgery. He'd skated several times on his own, but this morning, he finally joined the team for practice.

With the Habs' season spiralling, it's unlikely that Schlemko changes everything, but it will be very interesting to see what he can bring. He was a very effective player for the San Jose Sharks, and is touted for his skating, and decisions with the puck.

Let's hope he gets into the lineup in short order.
