It seems like the Hurricanes are looking to get a bit younger for Game 2 of their first round match up against the Washington Capitals in the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Washington Capitals are the defending Stanley Cup Champions and they entered this series as the favorite to move on to the next round of the playoffs so I suppose for those reasons it should come as little surprise that the Capitals walked away with the victory in the very first game of this series. That being said you should not expect the Hurricanes to just lay down for the Capitals in this series and Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rob Brind'Amour has already made some changes to his line up on an effort to produce a better result in Game 2 of the series.

According to a breaking news report from Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press, the Carolina Hurricanes will be going with rookie forward Saku Maenalanen this evening. The 24 year old forward made the jump to North America this season and although he spent significant time in the American Hockey League with the Charlotte Checkers he also found his way up to the main roster for 34 games with the Carolina Hurricanes during the 2018 - 2019 National Hockey League regular season.

According to Whyno it looks like it will be Greg McKegg who will be placed on the sidelines tonight to make room for Maenalanen.
