According to a report from Vancouver Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal of Sportsnet 650 radio, the Canucks have called up defensemen Alex Biega and Guillaume Brisebois from the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Utica Comets.

Check it out:

Biega has been called up by the Canucks. Hearing Brisebois as well but no confirmation.

Update: The Province’s Patrick Johnson has also reported that Biega and Brisebois have been recalled.

Alex Biega and Guillaume Brisebois appear to be on their way to the desert to join their NHL squad.
With the Canucks suddenly facing an injury crisis on the blue line, the call to Utica has apparently been made.
It appears that Alex Biega — waived and sent back to the minors 10 days ago — and prospect Guillaume Brisebois will join the Canucks in Arizona.
The Canucks play the Arizona Coyotes Thursday evening in Glendale, Ariz.

Biega was placed on waivers and demoted to the Comets just 10 days ago and has managed two assists in three games since his demotion. The 30 year old blue liner scored one goal and nine points in 44 games with the Canucks last season.

As for Brisebois, he could make his NHL debut tonight. The 21 year old was drafted by the Canucks in the third round (66th overall) at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. In 68 games with the Comets last season the 6 foot, 3 inch, 190 pound blue liner put up three goals and 18 points. He has a goal and an assist in seven games to start the 2018-19 season.

The Canucks were ravaged by injuries last night in a shootout victory over the Vegas Golden Knights. Veteran blue liner Alex Edler went down with an injury and didn't return and Chris Tanev suffered a injury in the third period, as well. Look for Biega and Michael Del Zotto, or Brisebois to draw into the lineup tonight against the Arizona Coyotes
