Breaking: Insider believes teams likely to trade for veteran defenseman.

Yesterday when the announcement came down that veteran defenseman Christian Ehrhoff had been placed on waivers we were almost certain he would be claimed off of waivers, but we were wrong, and today Ehrhoff cleared.

However that may be because teams were looking to acquire Ehrhoff while also getting rid of a contract of their own through a trade, or perhaps even hoping that Los Angeles would be willing to retain some salary.

According to TSN hockey insider Bob McKenzie that is exactly the case, and he believes that teams in need of defensive depth will now take a look at acquiring Ehrhoff through trade.
