It sounds like Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin has accepted the fate of his team and is now looking to potentially sell off some of his assets.

According to a report from TSN hockey insider Darren Dreger the Canadiens have been dangling forward Lars Eller as trade bait, the information was made public via Brian Wilde of CTV who says Dreger "is hearing Eller's name out there for a trade."

There hasn't been any indication of what teams could be involved, but Eller is not a rental player, he has two more years left on his current contract at a cap hit of $3.5 million per season. A contender could look to add him as a piece for a playoff run, but with two years of control he will come at a higher cost than your average UFA rental player.
