Breaking: Islanders captain John Tavares appears badly injured.

This looks like a nightmare scenario for the New York Islanders.

Late in the third period of the match up between the Islanders and New Jersey Devils on Friday night, Islanders captain John Tavares got tangled up behind the net, and went down hard on the ice.

Much to the despair of Islanders' fans Tavares came up clutching is leg in pain, and was unable to put any weight on it as he left the ice. Needless to say that any serious injury to Tavares would be a massive blow to the Islanders faint playoff hopes.
