If the Calgary Flames were hoping to get a new contract worked out with forward Johnny Gaudreau anytime soon they are going to be very disappointed.

According to a recent report from Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman, the young Flames star has informed the organization that he does not wish to talk business when he arrives in Toronto for the World Cup of Hockey.

Adding an extra layer to the story, word is the Calgary Flames were told Gaudreau does not wish to negotiate after his World Cup arrival, scheduled for Sept. 4, preferring to concentrate on the games. That moratorium would last for the duration of the event, which would be Oct. 1 if the final goes a full three games.

This is particularly notable because it would leave the Flames very little time after the World Cup to get a deal worked out with Gadreau before the start of the season, and frankly this could be seen as a pressure tactic from Gaudreau to get a deal done prior to the World Cup.
