The Montreal Canadiens made a huge trade on Thursday and they have followed it up with a huge contract signing.
According to a breaking news report from Habs insider Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports, the Montreal Canadiens have agreed to a brand new contract with their big trade acquisition today Jonathan Drouin.
According to Lavoie Drouin will now earn a whopping $33 million dollars over the course of the next 6 National Hockey League seasons, a great deal by all accounts for the Canadiens.
Drouin was expected to earn somewhere between $5.5 million and $6.5 million per season, so the Habs got him at a good price, and will have control over the player for a long time as well.
Drouin has always dreamed of playing for the Canadiens, and one has to wonder if this impacted his decision to take less money on a long-term deal with the Canadiens.
