The Toronto Maple Leafs dropped some bad news on Friday.

A report from Leaf TV's Paul Hendrick has revealed that Toronto will be without defenseman Martin Marincin for four to six weeks, meaning the team will head into the new year down a man. Marincin has played a large role for the Leafs this season appearing in 16 games for the club before missing the last several games with his current injury.

There may be a silver lining here however, the Leafs have had somewhat of a controversy on their hands with young defenseman Frankie Corrado sitting on the sidelines and finally venting his frustration publicly this week. There's no guarantee that Corrado will enter the line up, but in theory the injury to Marincin does free up a roster spot and he may now finally get his shot to play.
