Breaking: Leafs make a big call up to replace injured Tyler Ennis.

The Toronto Maple Leafs suffered a big loss on Saturday night.

The Leafs welcomed the New York Rangers to the Air Canada Center in Toronto, Ontario on Saturday night and, although the Leafs picked up a 5 - 3 win over those Rangers, it was a rough night overall for the organization. During the course of the game veteran Leafs forward Tyler Ennis was forced to leave with what was at the time an undisclosed injury, an injury the Leafs would eventually announce would keep him out for the remainder of the game. It was not until the game however that we would learn just how badly Ennis was hurt.

Following the win over the Rangers the Maple Leafs officially announced that Ennis had suffered a broken ankle and although the team did not disclose how long Ennis was expected to miss as a result of the injury we know it will be long term. Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock acknowledged that he expected Ennis out for quite a while following the announcement and that was enough for all the attention to turn towards who the Leafs would use to replace the injured Ennis.

We now have an answer to that question thanks to a report from Sportsnet's National Hockey League insider Chris Johnston. According to Johnston the Maple Leafs have called up rookie forward Trevor Moore from the American Hockey League's Toronto Marlies, and although it's not official as of yet it looks a lot Moore will finally get his chance to make his debut in the National Hockey League.

Moore has been quite good for the Leafs at the AHL level over the past 3 seasons, especially when you consider the fact that he was an undrafted player out of college, but his game has really taken the next step in this most recent campaign. Moore has appeared in 27 games for the Marlies in the 2017 - 2018 AHL regular season and he has a whopping 17 goals and 7 assists for a total of 24 points. thus far.

The Leafs would of course love to see him continue that level of production at the NHL level, and fans will be happy to see a player they have wanted to see at the NHL level for some time now.
