Bad news for a young Leaf.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are dealing with some bad news, and right now the hope is that the bad news won't carry into the regular season.

According to a report from Dhiren Mahiban‏ of the Canadian Press, 23-year-old Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nikita Soshnikov has not been cleared by doctors to play yet this season.

Soshnikov has been suffering the symptoms of a concussion and despite the fact that we are now several months into the offseason it appears that medical staff are still not ready to give him formal clearance.

It's unclear what symptoms Soshnikov is still currently dealing with, but certainly the fact that they have been ongoing for this long should be a major red flag for the Maple Leafs and their fans.

More to come as this story develops.
