Breaking: Leafs reportedly attempting to trade for star forward.

There is a huge rumor involving the Toronto Maple Leafs that has completely out of left field. 

During a recent interview on Leafs Lunch, NBC Hockey Analyst Pierre McGuire informed the host that he has been hearing rumblings of a potential trade involving Colorado Avalanche star forward Matt Duchene and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

It appears that McGuire believes Joe Sakic's initial desire to absolutely get a defenseman back in the deal for Duchene may have wavered, and he cites the inability of the Islanders to get a deal done despite reportedly offering defenseman Travis Hamonic as part of the deal. 

McGuire did not elaborate on what the Leafs would be sending back the other way, but one has to imagine that any deal involving Duchene stars with a 1st round pick in 2018 and adds pieces from there.
