Breaking: Letang trade controversy continues to build as shocking new info is released

This is getting out of hand. Who's lying and who's telling the truth?

When three reporters indicate that their sources have told them that Kris Letang is being discussed on the trade market, one tends to listen. Especially when one of those reporters is Elliotte Friedman.

Among the 'big 3' in NHL reporting, including Bob McKenzie and Pierre LeBrun, Friedman is one of the most reliable sources out there, so if he says someone is being discussed in trade talks, he isn't putting out false info.

Yet - The Athletic's Josh Yohe, reporter covering the Pittsburgh Penguins, revealed some startling information that completely contradicts everything we've been hearing to this point.

Typically, an organization won't admit to shopping a player - particularly one of Letang's ilk - however, if they are indeed shopping him and want to limit the media frenzy it will inevitably cause, they'll decline to comment on all trade-related discussion, or give vague answers so as to not confirm or deny the rumors.

Yohe's report that several members of the Penguins' organization have categorically stated that they have "zero interest" in trading Kris Letang really puts into question what is going on here.

Are the Penguins flat out lying - or has Friedman and company been misinformed?
