The UFA market is pretty heartless in a way. Guys who've played for a long while in a team and even won Cups can move away in a matter of hours and build a new life somewhere else.
After playing 9 years in Pittsburgh, it was time for a fresh start for Chris Kunitz. The Tampa Bay Lightning have acquired him today.
The 37 years old forward has played a total of 884 games in the NHL thus far, scoring 580 points along the way. Most notably, he won the Stanley Cup 4 times in his career, once with the Ducks and thrice in Pittsburgh. He will bring a lot of experience in a franchise that needs to turn the corner and grow into a contender. Kunitz might make the difference in Tampa for years to come.
