When Pavel Datsyuk decided to leave Detroit and call it a career, we knew he was going overseas to play in his mother country. Datsyuk joined Ilya Kovalchuk and the most stacked team in Russia; the SKA St. Petersburg.

As reported by SwissHabs and Russian website championat.com, Pavel Datsyuk will play one more season with St. Petersburg SKA as he announces he’ll sign a 1-year deal. The only problem is the salary cap space as the SKA may face some trouble fitting his salary.

Believe it or not, the Magician is only 7th in scoring … on his team. Still, Datsyuk is one of the KHL’s biggest marketing assets and his spot on the All-Star weekend was a lock as soon as he signed his contract with the SKA.

With moves like these, no wonder why the KHL wanted him back so bad. In 44 games this season, he scored 12 goals and registered 22 assists for a total of 34 points.
