Breaking: Major changes coming for Flyers' captain Claude Giroux.

The Philadelphia Flyers captain may be about to experience a drastic change in his National Hockey League career.

A report from Dave Isaac of the Courier-Post has revealed that head coach Dave Hakstol implemented a major change on the fourth day of training camp moving his captain, Claude Giroux, from the center position over to the left wing. 

Giroux has openly expressed a desire to play alongside teammate Sean Couturier in the past, and that is exactly who Hakstol moved up to Giroux's like when he made the drastic change on Wednesday. 

It's unclear if this is merely a brief experiment from Hakstol, or if he intends to make this part of his long-term vision for the team moving forward. Giroux however seems to believe this may be a long-term move.

It could be just a one-day experiment cooked up by Flyers coach Dave Hakstol.

Or it could stick for a while. Giroux said he “would not be surprised” if he was a winger when the Flyers start their season Oct. 4 in San Jose, but a lot would have to happen before then.

The Flyers drafted Nolan Patrick, a center, at the NHL Entry Draft and one has to wonder if their good fortune moving up in the draft may have resulted in the sudden decision to bump Giroux over to the wing.
