The first major domino may have fallen at Hockey Canada, after a week of battering as sponsor after major sponsor fled the disgraced organization in droves.
According to a breaking news report from Denis Coderre of BPM Sports Radio in Montreal, Hockey Canada's Interim Chair of the Board Andrea Skinner has tendered her resignation. Coderre cites his own personal sources as the source of the information and appears to be the first to have broken the news on Saturday evening.
Skinner recently testified before a federal committee following the explosive sexual assault scandals that have rocked Hockey Canada to its very foundations, although it is unclear if that testimony is in any way linked to her resignation.
As mentioned this comes after a week in which Hockey Canada saw major sponsors like Nike, Tim Hortons, the Bank of Nova Scotia and more distance themselves from the organization and reduce their sponsorship presence with Hockey Canada, diverting those funds to other causes not tainted by scandal.
Many, including Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, have called for a wholesale overhaul of Hockey Canada and it may very well be that Skinner's resignation is only the beginning.
Update: TSN's Rick Westhead has confirmed the report from Coderre.
