Huge news for McDavid.
Christmas has come early for hockey fans, and more specifically hockey fans in Edmonton.
According to a report from Mark Spector of Sportsnet Connor McDavid. this year's first overall pick and one of the most intriguing players in years, has made his return to the ice, skating with his team this week for the first time since his injury.
It's important to note that this is only the next step in his recovery and in no way an indication that he will return in the coming days, but with that said he is clearly way ahead of schedule. When McDavid originally suffered the injury some estimates suggested he would return to the ice sometime in March of 2016.
“Connor is not shooting yet,” confirmed agent Jeff Jackson. “The Oilers have a time line, with different milestones where he can do certain things on the ice. He’ll move towards puck handling soon. It will be up to the doctors and the therapists [when he begins to shoot pucks].”
It's expected McDavid will resume full practice in January, months ahead of schedule, and with him practising a return will be near.
