Breaking: Markov makes shocking announcement in regards to future

Earlier this morning, we had reported that Andrei Markov would not be suiting up for the Montreal Canadiens this upcoming season. Quickly followed a memorable thank you by the hockey team and an explanation by Geoff Molson.

Well, Arpon Basu, director of redaction at NHL.com, has just announced that Markov will not be pursuing his career in the NHL. Rather, he has opted to look to the KHL for his future.

Markov is going back to Russia to play in the KHL.

According to Basu, this was a personal decision by Markov, who made it clear that there had been NHL offers.

Markov said he had NHL options or could have waited to September or October to see how things played out but decided to go to the KHL.
