Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews has been named the NHL’s 2nd Star for the week of Oct 9th - 15th.

The 20-year-old sophomore superstar has electrified the NHL this season with five goals and eight points in just five games. Last season’s Calder Trophy winner as rookie of the year looks poised to blow away his 40 goals and 69 points from a year prior. With goal scoring suddenly on the rise through the NHL’s first two weeks, could Matthews be a legitimate threat to reach 50 goals this season? Certainly the 40 from his rookie campaign will provide the bench mark, but can he go even higher?
