Breaking: Maxim Lapierre gets professional tryout with an NHL team.

One of the National hockey League's most reviled players may be very close to making his NHL comeback a reality after spending some time overseas. After rumors surfaced earlier this week regarding a potential tryout for veteran forward Maxim Lapierre, and now we have confirmation.

A report from TVA Sports' Renaud Lavoie has revealed that as the rumors suggested the tryout will be with the New York Rangers, and with their tight cap situation it's not impossible to imagine a scenario where Lapierre gets a contract this season.

With that said it's still much too premature to make any kind of judgement on how likely he is to get an NHL deal.
