San Jose Sharks' defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic has just been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the current CBA for his dangerous use of the stick involving Ottawa Senators' defenseman Erik Karlsson. Vlasic fiercely speared Karlsson in the chest, close to his face on thursday night.

Vlasic's incident with Karlsson could have been what led Mike Hoffman to deliver a nasty cross-check to Logan Couture. Hoffman was recently suspended by the NHL for 2 games.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic won't have time to contemplate his bank account dramatically drops as the San Jose Sharks are playing the Canadiens in Montreal tonight!
