McDavid speaks his mind.

The Edmonton Oilers fan base does not have a lot of things to be happy about right now, but one thing they can certainly be proud of is superstar forward and Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid.

McDavid spoke to the media on Monday following two extremely difficult loses on home ice for the Oilers franchise, an embarrassing loss in the Battle of Alberta to the Calgary Flames followed by an extremely lackluster effort from the Oilers on Sunday night against the Carolina Hurricanes. To his credit McDavid did not shy away from any of the difficult questions thrown his way and in fact used one of the question directed at him as a spring board to call out the players dragging their feet in the Oilers locker room.

First the question itself, although I could not make out which reporter was asking it. McDavid was asked the following:

"Is part of the challenge that some guys don't think that those 23 guys in there are the right group to be able to do that?"

The question stemmed came off the heels of McDavid stating that the only people who currently still believe in the Oilers are the Oilers themselves. The insinuation that there could be players in the Oilers locker room who do not believe in the team however appeared to strike a chord with McDavid, and what followed was not only one of his most candid answers ever but also one born of clear frustration.

"Well if there's guys that believe that then they should get out of the room," said McDavid as per TSN. "If you don't believe in this group and you're in this locker room than you need to leave."

Those are some extremely harsh words from McDavid and if there are indeed players in the Oilers locker room who do not believe in the team you have to imagine that hearing someone like McDavid make such a statement has to send a little chill crawling up and down their spine. That being said McDavid did state that he personally does not feel that is the case, although with the level of compete we saw on Sunday night I'm not so certain.
