Breaking: McDavid spotted leaving the arena in a wheelchair!

The situation surrounding Connor McDavid appears to be getting worse and worse.

As many of you will know by now McDavid was injured on Saturday night during a match up against the Calgary Flames, a match up better known as The Battle of Alberta. It was a meaningless game for both teams with nothing but pride on the line and that will make the injury that the Edmonton Oilers captain suffered this evening all the more difficult to swallow for fans of that organization.

McDavid was on the rush during the games second period when he was tripped up by Calgary Flames captain Mark Giordano on his way to the net. That trip would knock McDavid completely off balance and would cause him to go crashing into the goal post at a high rate of speed, and he would not get up after the initial impact. It was odd to see McDavid just sitting there looking at his legs and my initial reaction upon seeing the play was that he was not injured at all. Nothing about his body language in those first few initial seconds would have led you to believe he was hurt, but boy would that prove to be incorrect.

We now know that McDavid has been seriously injured with reports suggesting that he was screaming in agony in the Edmonton Oilers locker room while be attending to by trainers and with some even claiming that McDavid could be heard telling trainers he believed his leg to be broken. All of that is of course nothing but hearsay or speculation at this time, but unfortunately the confirmed reports that we can bring you at this time are just as bad, if not worse.

According to a breaking news report from Rob Tychkowski of the Edmonton Sun the Oilers superstar has now been taken out of the Saddledome in Calgary and is on his way to hospital where he will be treated for his injuries. When I saw taken out I mean taken out because according to Tychkowski McDavid had to be escorted out of the building in a wheel chair, presumably unable to walk under his own power at this time.
