Prior to the season we reported on the fact that oddsmakers had pinned Montreal Canadiens head coach Michel Therrien as the man most likely to be the first NHL coach fired first this season, but things have changed drastically.

In fact the man who dethroned Therrien and now finds himself at the top of the list wasn't even in the top 5 last time, but after a very poor showing from his team at the World Cup of Hockey as well as a winless regular season thus far, the new number one coach most likely to be fired first this season is the Columbus Blue Jackets' John Tortorella.

It's not just bad news for Tortorella either, as head coach Willie Desjardins of the Canucks, head coach Paul Maurice of the Jets, head coach Claude Julien of the Bruins and the aforementioned Therrien all remain within the top five names after having previously been featured in the top five prior to the season.

Who do you believe will be the first to go?
