The Chicago Blackhawks are neck deep in cap problems and they have finally traded a big contract. Former 35-goal scorer Patrick Sharp has been dealt to the Dallas Stars. In return, the Blackhawks get defenseman Trevor Daley and forward Ryan Garbutt. Sharp, 33 years of age, had a down season in 2014-2015, recording only 43 points in 68 games. He was acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers back in 2005. He had his best season with the Blackhawks in 2013-2014 when he recorded 78 points. Daley, 31 years of age, just had the best offensive season of his career with 38 points. He spent the entirety of his career so far with the Dallas Stars. Garbutt had 25 points last season. The 29-year-old has played two complete seasons with the Stars and has played in four seasons so far in his career.   The Stars also get defenseman Stephen Johns in this trade. Johns was Chicago's seconde round pick back in 2010 and has yet to play a game in the NHL.
