This just in, the Springfield Thunderbirds, AHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, have signed veteran forward Milan Lucic from his professional tryout (PTO) contract.

You may recall that Lucic was injured in the preseason while on a PTO with the Blues. While Lucic was officially released from that contract, the team and the player worked together to treat his injury and are now believed to be feeling things out for an NHL contract.

From Blues GM Doug Armstrong earlier this season:

"He got banged up the last couple (of preseason) games. We're going to rehab him here, get him back up health-wise to 100% and likely reconnect on an in-season PTO to get him up and running and see where he's at then."

Don't be surprised if Lucic and the Blues come to a formal agreement once he gets himself back into playing shape with the Thunderbirds.
