According to multiple reports the NHL has secured a major broadcasting partnership for it's World Cup of Hockey. TSN's Rick Westhead appears to be the man who broke the story, and according to Westhead the NHL has come to terms with the world wide leader in sports ESPN. NBC and Fox, the NHL's current broadcasting partners in the United States,  both also reportedly made bids for the rights fees. This is a major coup for the league, ESPN has not broadcastan NHL game since the 2004 NHL lockout, and by all accounts appeared to have lost interest in the product. However the recent spike in the NHL's popularity seems to have fueled interest. This means the World Cup of Hockey will be available in roughly 100 million homes in the United States.
