Breaking News: Shea Theodore signs an enormous contract with Vegas Golden Knights
Whoa! This came outta nowhere!
This just in, the Vegas Golden Knights have signed defenseman Shea Theodore to a seven year contract extension worth $7.425 million per season.
Theodore's existing contract expires this upcoming offseason and this new deal will keep him under contract until 2031... when he'll be 36 years old.
An original Golden Misfit, Theodore has been with the team eight seasons after a pre-expansion draft trade with the Anaheim Ducks. Theodore was eligible to be selected by Vegas, but the Ducks wanted to protect Josh Manson and dump veteran Clayton Stoner so they shipped Theodore to Vegas with a promise that then-Vegas GM George McPhee would select Stoner.
Since then, Theodore has gone on to establish himself as the team's all-time leader in points by a defenseman. Theodore is one of just four original Golden Knights, along with William Karlsson and Brayden McNabb.
