ESPN's Pierre Lebrun is reporting that the Dallas Stars and the San Jose Sharks have made a trade. The Stars have traded away defenseman Brendan Dillon to the Sharks  in exchange for defenseman Jason Demers and a third round pick in 2016. This seems to be another move motivated by widely reported rumors of no increase on the salary cap next season. The Sharks unload Demers $3.4 million dollar cap hit, he is set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2016, and in exchange receive Dillon who is a very solid stay at home defenseman who only costs them a hit of $1.25 million this season. Dillon will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season, As for the Dallas Stars, this move seems more than likely to be motivated by their lack of success this season. They are likely just trying to shake up the locker room a bit and see if Demers can be a difference maker for them. Jason Demers has 3 points over 20 games and is a -8 this season.   Brendan Dillon has also played twenty games has just 1 point and is a -2 on the year.
