You have to respect a high level player for being willing to acknowledge when he's not playing well.

On Tuesday Chicago Blackhawks star forward Joanthan Toews once again demonstrated why he was chosen to wear the "C" as Chicago's captain when he very honestly told members of the assembled media that he didn't deserve the nomination he received to the All-Star game.

"I have to completely admit that there is a handful of guys on this team that are definitely more deserving," said Toes as per Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune.

Toews specifically pointed to three of his teammates, Artemi PanarinArtem Anisimov and Marian Hossa, and openly questioned why he was selected over them, indicating he felt some of his teammates had earned his spot.

"Why I got picked ahead of those guys based on performance this year I'm not sure."

Toews saw a slight dip in performance during the 2015-2016 season, and an uncharacteristically low shooting percentage this season may have him headed for another dip, so you can understand why Toews feels the way he does, and he may even be right. Nonetheless in an ego driven business like professional sport, it takes a big man to make the statements Toews made on Tuesday.
